16 Years at Badwater Changed His Heat Rule

Circleville, Ohio16:35

Ultra runner, teacher and two-time Badwater 135 winner

Pete visits ultra runner Harvey Lewis at his home in Circleville, Ohio, 19 days before what Harvey says will be his 16th year at Badwater 135. Over a run, a meal and a session in the SISU Charlie Cabin in his backyard, Harvey talks through 13 years of running to work and back, and how he reversed his old rule of training in heat only a couple of days a week. Asked what he would tell his 20-year-old self, he says to keep doing what he was doing, and that there were no shortcuts to where he got.

If you said today I'll give you a Ferrari if you just don't run to work, I would turn down the Ferrari.

Grit Over Glory

These are the ones doing hard things on purpose. The ones who train with intention, recover with purpose, and treat sauna like a ritual.

Every episode goes behind the scenes: the training, the sauna, the buildouts, and the real conversations that don't make the feed.
